The ANSI/ISEA 107 standard defines the design and performance requirements for high-visibility safety apparel used on roads, in utilities, and on construction and industrial sites.
For lower-traffic environments where workers are separated from traffic and speeds do not exceed 25 mph. Minimal reflective material.
The standard for most road, utility, and construction work — higher visibility with more reflective material. This is what we make.
For high-traffic, high-speed environments. Requires sleeves and the most reflective material — typically a full garment, not a vest.
Type R is the classification for roadwork and right-of-way apparel (as opposed to Type O, off-road, and Type P, public safety). Class 2 indicates the level of visibility — the required amount of fluorescent background material and reflective tape.
Our vest is certified ANSI/ISEA 107:2020 Type R, Class 2, which satisfies the high-visibility apparel requirements referenced by OSHA for most road, utility, construction, warehouse, and municipal work. We provide a Certificate of Conformity on the product page.
The ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 standard defines the types and classes of industrial head protection.
OSHA does not approve, certify, or endorse any product or manufacturer. Instead, OSHA requires employers to provide appropriate protective equipment and references the ANSI/ISEA 107 and Z89.1 standards. When you see gear marketed as "OSHA approved," that's a marketing claim — not a certification. The meaningful mark is ANSI/ISEA certification, which is exactly what our products carry.
